A post from Aurelia on her blog about the promotion of a belgium show, really made me smile, in the comments Gaius posted a link to a video from a TMobile Ad were they did a smiliar thing in the Liverpool trainstation, i bet you left that place with a smile if you have been there...

...now i just saw that Tmobile did it again,

After grabbing the publics attention with a series of teaser adverts suggesting something was going to happen in Trafalgar Square on the 30th April 2009 at 6pm, an astounding 13,500 people gathered there to be part of the follow-up to "Dance", but totally unaware of what it would be! and then they started to hand out microphones...

love it, and amazing a german company is capable of something like this....

cheers

Allow me to be the curmudgeon...

I just don't understand why anyone would spend their time willingly giving away free advertising for a staged event, or even why they would gather in such large numbers without knowing why in the first place. I feel bad enough for wasting a couple of minutes watching that. Sheeple suck.

Nah, they're not sheeple. Nobody there was meekly handing over his or her basic rights to any freedom-hating authority figure.

And while public participation in a giant, outdoor karaoke lovefest isn't quite my bag (and I suspect it isn't yours, either, PP), I had to smile at the anthem-like quality given to that old Beatles tune.

Written by McCartney to comfort Lennon's young son during some trying times, the song can be applied to the trying times that we're all going through right now. The event is particularly apt, seeing as how it was conducted in Trafalgar Square, a place noted for defiant political demonstrations despite attempts of government authority to control such demonstrations.

While I'd guess that the metaphor was probably lost on the majority of the participants at that event, I give them all points and two snaps for nevertheless shamelessly enjoying a bit of goofy fun at no-one's expense but their own (and probably T-Mobile's).

For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool

By making his world a little colder.
