first cohort centurion
the general consensus is that the legions were the best infantry in the ancient world but what about alexanders silver sheilds they were the elite in (arguably) the second best army in the ancient world so who would win in hand to hand combat of equal numbers??? Primus Pilus
the general consensus is that the legions were the best infantry in the ancient world but what about alexanders silver sheilds they were the elite in (arguably) the second best army in the ancient world so who would win in hand to hand combat of equal numbers??? Since they never fought, there's really no way to predict. Regardless, it's not as if the Argyraspides were an entire army, but rather a single unit (for lack of a better term or clarity of numbers) of hand-selected veterans. Think more along the line of the Praetorian guard (though most likely more elite in skill and experience and in far less numbers).
