Guest Janel
Beginning in the 11th century C.E., medieval Europe witnessed increasing amounts of persecutions against religious and social minorities. Can anyone explain what created this persecuting society? Any specific examples of medieval persecutions?
Primus Pilus
Though a bit later than the period you start with, the Spanish Inquisition is definately one such example. Starting in the late 15th century, it lasted 350+ years. Spanish Inquisition
Moonlapse
I would guess that minorities and regligions added competition and complexity to the status-centered medieval societies, or they provided a 'stepping stone' - an object to subvert in order to ascend in status above others.
