Guest DE PROFVNDIS Posted October 7, 2004 Report Share Posted October 7, 2004 i know tattoos have been discussed previosly, particularly in relation to non-italian imperial roman troops but i was a little surprised no-one mentioned the SPQR that Russell Crowe has tattoo'd on his (left or right?) shoulder in 'Gladiator'. Primus Pilus Posted October 7, 2004 Report Share Posted October 7, 2004 I'm no expert on tattooes, but I do know it was practiced by the Romans. I don't believe that legionaries were required to have any sort of identifying mark, however.
