Ursus
http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?id=7767 Is this a good thing? The classics going mainstream once again? Or should we be scared at what a comic book might do to our hallowed myths? All I can say for now is that the cover art looks pretty spiffy. DecimusCaesar
The cover does look very cool. I think the Trojan Wars have already been made into a comic book series called 'the Age of Bronze'. Here's a link to the main site - Age of Bronze Interestingly the author's have decided to make it as "Historically accurate" as possible by using actual archaeological reconstructions from the Minoan/Mycenaean period, so that the costumes and architecture are of the period. Ursus
Next time I'm at the bookstore I actually will look out for this. I'm not such a snob I would turn down a decent comic adaptation of mythology.
Klingan
I guess out beloved ancient history need all the advertisement it gets, however twisted. We can always inform people about how it really were later.
DDickey
I own the first two volumes in tradepapeback. I'm a big fan of this series. It's incredibly well told.
Northern Neil
Yes, a bit of a must, if the cover is anything to go by. And of course overlooking the 800 year anacronysm of Persian Wars period hoplites serving in the army of Agamemnon!
P.Clodius
Wasn't the movie 300 based on such? If so it wasn't half bad.
DDickey
Oh, you know what: I was talking about the wrong book. The series I was talking about, of which I own two paperbacks, is the Age of Bronze, not the Marvel one. Sorry for the confusion.
