The throne in question probably had some sort of ceremonial significance in the cult of Attis. What makes it interesting though is that it was found in a house belonging to Caesar's father-in-law.

Are there other examples of Romans employing an abbreviation from the middle of a word onwards?

Wasn't there something like the English word 'Illustrious' in an emperor's titles?
