G-Manicus
From All Head News Nakali, Kenya (AHN) - Archaeologists claim to have unearthed a 10-million-year-old jawbone in Kenya that they believe may have come from the last common ancestor of gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans. The fossil, complete with 11 teeth, was recovered from volcanic mud deposits in Kenya's Nakali region on the eastern edge of the Rift Valley in 2005 by a team of Japanese and Kenyan researchers. *** The species, which is dubbed as Nakalipithecus nakayamai, also helps refute a popular theory that the apes that eventually gave rise to humans left Africa for Asia and Europe, only to return much later. Frederick Manthi, senior research scientist at the National Museums of Kenya, declared at a press conference, "Based on this particular discovery, we can comfortably say we are approaching the point at which we can pin down the so-called missing link." *** "Take your hands off or me you damned, dirty ape!"
