DecimusCaesar
I have Roman Battle Tactics, it's a great short introduction to the subject. As an added bonus there's a bunch of really great illustrations throughout the book. I added 'Rome and Persia in Late Antiquity: Neighbours and Rivals' to my Amazon wishlist a few days back. It sounds like a really interesting title, although a tad bit too expensive for me at the moment. I'll have to wait till it's closer to Christmas to get that one. Ursus
There are several on this list I may read .... but my "must have" is Roman Life, from the same author that brought us Roman sex.
Ursus
I have read Roman Life and submitted a review. While most UNRV regulars may find it of some worth, I believe Pertinax and Nephele in particular would enjoy it.
Nephele
I believe Pertinax and Nephele in particular would enjoy it. Hmm... Poisons and sex, I'm guessing? Now you've hooked me -- and I haven't even read the review yet. Yah, you're a shock jock, all right. (And not the least of your virtues, either.) -- Nephele EDIT: Hahahaha! I think perhaps I may have had too many Irish coffees at Brendan's in the city today, and I may still be a bit muzzy. What I meant (because what I wrote, on second reading, sounded somewhat odd) is: You have many virtues, Ursus, and your ability to startle is not the least of them. (Oh, shut up, Nephele.) -- Nephele
Ursus
Read the book over an Irish coffee, Nephele. No reason why you can't combine pleasures.
Nephele
Read the book over an Irish coffee, Nephele. No reason why you can't combine pleasures. It's going in with my next order from Amazon. Thanks for yet another great recommendation! -- Nephele
