G-Manicus
TiVo'd this last week off of the National Geographic Channel and found it truly fascinating. Dr. Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who helped rediscover the Titanic and the Bismark, lead a team to the bottom of the Mediterranean in the late 90's to search for sunken Roman and Carthaginian vessels. He was able to secure the use of a US Navy nuclear submarine that they outfitted with cameras and an arm for excavation. They used the sub's sonar to locate the remains of a half dozen or so ships and were able to salvage quite a bit of cargo. The video was amazing. If you have a chance to see it, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
