Today is the MMCCXXIInd anniversary (four 2s... any cabalistic feelings?) of the day when most Roman soldiers died. CANNAE (nuff' said!) HERE'S THE LINK I don't remember where I read the Romans had some kind of feast at this day to never forget the courage of their Fathers in this their darkest hour.
