Ingsoc Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Posted August 30, 2007 I agree with TA and Ursus, althought Reinhold biography of Agrippa is excellent it's also extremlly hard to get (and this should help you in the selling department) and more importanly it's outdated as it's did not include the new discoveries about his imperium and his family connections with Varus, there also some new researches such as the one about his building plans. They are also eligible for free book giveaways. Long term activity and good character are the main traits, but we also like to see that our Patricians are scholarly and well-written, because we do like book reviews in exchange for the free books. So if you want to write an article or review on a Romanophile topic, e-mail it to Viggen. Just don't write anything on Harry Potter or I will commit ritual suicide. Oh the temptation ......!! Thanks for the advice - I'll get on to it straight away! Thanks for suggesting Aetius and Stilicho Decimus. I've got to admit that Aetius is very tempting, as my 'expertise' lies more towards the later period. Oh dear, the decision just gets harder and harder!! Decimus are you aware that you proposed two characters that actually went into books (well Stilicho already is and Aetius is on its way. I've already spoken to my editor and he knows of my desire to cover the 3rd century at some point. All I've got to do is complete the books I've already signed for, plus the ones we have a 'verbal' agreement on, plus ... I wonder if I could clone myself? Or maybe just learn to type faster ...? I'd love to see more books on the third century too; it's a very murky and confusing era - although by Diocletain's time the age of anarchy was coming to an end. Aurelian would make for fascinating biography, but too bad that the other emperors from the Crisis era, like the "much loved" Claudius II, Decius, Philip the Arab etc were not around long enough to construct biographies for them.
