JP Vieira
Hello Here is one of my latest illustrations http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1/JPVie...2006/31copy.jpg It depicts a combat between Arab camel riders and an Assyrian armoured cavalryman. Hope you enjoy it. Best regards JP Vieira
DecimusCaesar
Excellent picture JP! I like the detail on the Assyrian's armour. It's also historically correct, especially concerning the two arabs riding on the camel's back. Are you planning on doing any more?
Klingan
Wow, not bad at all! Really good. Wish I could do that kinda stuff. Do you have any other to show us?
Rameses the Great
Is this supposed to depict any historical accuracy? I'm pretty sure the contact between the Assyrians and Bedhouins were dismal.

Gaius Paulinus Maximus
Excellent work as usual JP But don't you think that the soldier (in the middle) in the picture below looks a bit on the camp side? He looks like a bit of a wet lettuce to me http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1/JPVie...2006/sscopy.jpg Edited April 25, 2007 by Gaius Paulinus Maximus

JP Vieira
Hello as for sources , there is a bas-relief in the British Museum, depicting Assyrian cavalry in combat with Arab nomads archers who fight mounted in camel (2 men for each camel). Cheers JP Vieira

Gladius Hispaniensis
Excellent work J.P. As always, your work is impressive, keep it up. BTW the Waffen SS soldiers - are they members of the 3rd SS Division Totenkopf or are the pictures meant to be generic?
caldrail
HiMoonlapse: I use Photoshop and a tablet PC (Toshiba Tecra). Gaius: the soldier might look a bit camp but that is waffen ss fault: the smock is historically accurate Chers and thanks again for your replies. JP Vieira Just a small criticism - The colours on the smock have too much contrast. Modern military clothing gets very dull and sun-bleached (These days thats even allowed for in the original colour) so the real german smock would appear more washed-out than your otherwise excellent illustration. Black quickly becomes medium grey for instance. Take a good look at colour photographs or cine film of the period and you'll see exactly what I mean. JP Vieira
Hi Decimus: these are some of the historical sources for the illustration: Thanks! Gladius: very good! These are Totenkopf soldiers. Congratulations Caldrail: you are correct; the colours should look with less contrast: the fault was mine when I save the image Many thanks to all Cheers JP Vieira
