Here is the link for the English version of the homepage where you'll find intriguing depictions of the area of the Cripta Balbi (not an underground crypt, but originally a ground level construction) thru to the Middle Ages. http://www.inklink.it/inklink/archivio.php...=57〈=en "The Crypta Balbi complex now forms part of the National Museum of Rome.
