Arhetos Gnomon

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone,

First of all let me say that I am new to the forum. I have lurked her for some time and have really enjoyed the conversations on the topics I have read. That prompts me to pose a question to all of you that a friend of mine has asked me. He is a very big Anime Fan and was asking me if I knew about the Arhetos Gnomon.

It featured Prominently in a show called "Reign the Conqueror" that follows the conquests of Alexander. All of my research has provided me very little, I know of course a Gnomon is the vertical centerpiece of a sundial and means "to reveal". The Arhetos I have found means something akin to "Unspeakable" and was used sometimes in greek mathematics to represent irrational numbers. My question is this: According to the show there was an object named the Arhetos Gnomon that was housed in Crotone and could sense the "Sway of the Universe". Distilled down from such a lofty function does anyone have any reference to such an item?

Thank you Very much in advance,

-Brian
