Gaius Octavius
Clementina Panella has done a lot of good work. She was on one of those History Channel programs.
phil25
I thought the complex comprising the still relatively intact Casa di Livia and the more ruinious Casa di Augusto were the houses he lived in as princeps. I note that this is his bithplace - although how they can be sure, I don't know. Interesting though. I always find the House of Livia very atmospheric. Pantagathus
I note that this is his bithplace - although how they can be sure, I don't know. Petrified afterbirth containing intact, ancient DNA? :bag:

Silentium
Clementina had started new excavations on the Palatino, between the forum and Circus Maximus..I really hope she will be able to confirm the domus is Augustus' birthplace at some point =)
phil25
Augustus' house was marked in various ways, especially around the doors, the sources tell us that. But was his birthplace denoted in any way, as far as we know? Phil
P.Clodius
I was under the impression he was born outside Rome, the site being a popular pilgrimage spot after his death.
