Lex
Hi I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books dealing with the Dominate era? More specifically I'm looking for a book that focuses on Diocletian, his reforms and the Tetrarchy. Any books dealing broadly with the Dominate would also be fine though. Thanks. Neos Dionysos
The only one I can really think of is "Diocletian and the Roman Recovery" by Stephen Williams. Though I have recently come across this, The Reflections of Diocletian by Robert C., II Montague, I don't know if this is fiction or actual fact... Lex
Thanks a lot for the help Neos Dionysos, the first book you listed is *exactly* the type of book I had in mind. I see it also got good ratings. I'm ordering a new batch of books soon and I'm also including the other book you recommended, "Failure of Empire: Valens and the Roman State in the Fourth Century A.D." as well as "The Last Pagan" (about Julian Apostate) which also looks really good. Ursus
I recently reviewed The Roman Empire at Bay: AD 180-395 by Potter. It's a bit ... academic .... but I still found it useful. It gives a broad picture of the subject.
