Palace Of Darius The Great Discovered In Bolaghi Gorge

Discovery of remains of a gigantic palace in Bolaghi Gorge and its similarity to the constructions of the time of Darius I, Achaemenid King, in Persepolis show that it was built during the same period of time.

Interesting about the bulldozers, but I was unclear from the article as to whether they had been used before or during the recent archaeological dig.

 

Who might be responsiible - the construction form not wanting to delay their dam? Fundamentalists not wanting to encourage tourism or against paganism? Simple "treasure-hunters"?

 

Interesting article though.

 

Discovery Channel often have documentaries about French digs - Alexandria is an example - so maybe we'll get something on this at some stage.

 

I recall being impressed by Darius when I read a little about him in my schooldays.
