Viggen
A man unearthed a priceless hoard of 20,000 Roman coins as he dug a new fishpond in his back garden. Experts say the money may date from the 4th Century and could be the biggest find of its kind in Britain. The coins were crammed into a ceramic pot which broke up as it was dug out of the ground at Thornbury, Gloucestershire. full article at the BBC
kama
I've actually saw a program on that find. There was a silverware set and among many others. They say it is a great find because the man left it there and called archaeologists to dig it up. I think i saw it on an infomercial about metal detectors, im maybe thinking about buying one. Lynch
Metal Detectors are great fun! I found mostly old bottle caps and some nails but it's still interesting.
Guest Karv
To my knowledge there has only been one program relating to this particular find. April 5th UK TV: Blue Peter It did make news headlines on BBC points est and HTV , and the story did the rounds on th enet. No silverware was found at all. It wasn't left for archaeologists to dig up :/ It wasn't found using any form of metal detector (unless a spade is said item). Full piccies can be found at http://virtualkev.com/hoard/ PS Hi all.
