Pertinax
blessed are the cheesemakers though it may be manufacturers of dairy products generally Edited January 25, 2006 by Pertinax
Pantagathus
I am not suprised in the least... To find dairy products that early. However, I don't personally feel that animal hearding spread as part of the Neolithic toolkit per se. I think that is one thing that popped up in a few places (Southwest Asia, Iberia, North Africa) somewhat independantly in the early Holocene. Incidentaly, wild asses seemed to be the first to be 'captured' in Southwest Asia and in Iberia it seems to have been Caprinae (sheep & goats) And Pertinax... What's so special about the cheesemakers?
