Parts of the Great Wall of China, still standing after more than 2,000 years, were built using a construction technique called rammed earth. It's practical when you have hundreds of slaves, prisoners, and criminals working till death on a section of the Great Wall. A good reason why 1 million people died building the Great Wall and the main reason why you can find skeletons lying in or around the Wall.
