Greek and Roman statues painted, adorned and perfumed

There have been a few threads about the colorful painting of buildings in the ancient world. 

 Recent research “reveals that many Greco-Roman sculptures were not only painted, draped in clothing, and adorned with jewelry, but were even doused in perfume and fragrant substances.”
