A Pictish ring dating from 1000-1500 years ago has been discovered at Burghead Fort in Scotland. The fort was a Pictish promontory fort, a structure situated above a steep cliff and only connected to the mainland by a thin strip of land, making it easier to defend. Burghead Fort is located in the small town of Burghead in Moray, Scotland.
