guy
An interesting find dating from the Emperor Septimius (ruled AD 193-211) has been discovered in Bulgaria. Quote Archaeologists in Plovdiv, Bulgaria recently discovered a significant collection of ancient artifacts during rescue excavations near the historical Eastern Gate of Philippopolis. Desislava Davidova and her team from the Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv made this discovery, which includes over 500 coins from various eras. The coins, mostly bronze, date back over 2,500 years, revealing the area's long history of habitation. They also found a gold ingot intended for jewelry making. The site, located about 100 meters from Philippopolis' East Gate, contains structures and artifacts from the Hellenistic era and the Roman period. Among the finds are ceramic vessels dating from the 3rd to the 4th century CE and a rare iron lamp. Additionally, an inscription was found, believed to be from the pedestal of a statue dating back to the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211 CE). Further analysis of these discoveries will provide more insight into the history of Philippopolis, one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited cities.
