dovidl Posted June 23 Report Share Posted June 23 Stoicism makes much better sense than Christianity. Sex and death are two realities. The virgin birth denies sex, and the afterlife denies death. With its horrible history of persecuting those who did not subscribe to its nonsense, religious wars, the Inquisition, the destruction of indigenous cultures and the Holocaust, Christianity is a massive stain on history. Stoicism recommends we accept what cannot be changed and try to change what can be changed. Stoicism is consistent with the scientific method and the real world. It is a better guide for life than the superstition of Christianity. Seneca said, “Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.” It is still valid, and faith should be recognized as the vice of the gullible.
