guy
The remains of a late-Roman aristocratic woman has been found in Leeds. This finding was among eighty other skeletons that date from the late-Roman and early-Saxon periods. (Lead coffin contained Roman remains) Quote Archaeologists dug up a lead coffin containing the skeleton of what is thought to be a late-Roman aristocrat in a previously undiscovered, 1,600-year-old cemetery near Garforth, Leeds. The excavation also revealed the remains of more than 60 men, women and children who lived in the area more than 1,000 years ago. They are believed to include both late-Roman and early-Saxon people. The burial customs of both cultures were found in different plots. https://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2023-03-13/roman-womans-skeleton-unearthed-in-extraordinary-secret-cemetery Edited March 13, 2023 by guy
