guy
(Picture from Dr J Ball @DrJEBall) Recent archeological studies at the Colosseum have found suspected snacks of attendees. Quote In a statement, Alfonsina Russo, Director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, said the discovery of the snacks “deepens the understanding of the experience and habits of those who came to this place during the long days dedicated to the performances." In other words, an event in the Colosseum without “olives, nuts, figs, grapes and melons” would be akin to a family movie without popcorn or a football game without hotdogs and beer. Quote The study began in January 2021 and involved the clearance of around 70m (230ft) of drains and sewers under the Colosseum. https://www.ancient-origins.net/news-history-archaeology/roman-colosseum-snacks-0017580 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63746307.amp Edited November 28, 2022 by guy
