He was buried between 540-550 AD. “Genetic analysis of a tooth sample revealed he had been infected with the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which causes plague, and Haemophilus influenza serotype b.“ It is notable that the plague of Justinian (541-549 AD) was raging throughout Europe at Europe at this time.
