guy
A monarchy today may be an antiquated concept. Italy, however, has so little national identity that a monarch (in this, case a Queen) might be a good thing. Quote “ Italy may have abolished its monarchy 75 years ago, but having no real power hasn't stopped its royal family from feuding. Direct descendants of Italy's last king are divided over who should lead the family. For thousands of years, only men in the family could rule. All that changed when the current head of the royal House of Savoy, Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, issued a decree on his granddaughter's 16th birthday granting her the power to eventually lead the family.“ https://abcnews.go.com/International/young-princess-fights-claim-abolished-throne-italy/story?id=78274162 Edited October 11, 2021 by guy
caesar novus
I thought the would-be queen now is the greatest actress who ever lived, Marisa Alassio. You enjoyed a Dutch segment/copy of her with Mario Lanza "seven hills of rome". I lost track of a great article proposing she was the first feminist actress, but in an elegant and more subtle way than later became the norm. She was a close counterpart to Sophia L, but high IQ and EQ. Quote Wiki sez: sex symbol during her film career, which she abandoned in 1957, after marrying Count Pier Francesco Calvi di Bergolo (born 22 December 1932, died 2012), son of Princess Iolanda di Savoia, first-born of Vittorio Emanuele III and Elena del Montenegro.
