guy
Quote Pompeii's famed mosaic of Alexander the Great's victory over Persian king Darius at the Battle of Issus is set to be restored in a project starting at the end of the month and lasting until July, officials said Thursday. https://archaeologynewsnetwork.blogspot.com/2021/01/pompeiis-alexander-great-mosaic-set-to.html Some background information on the mosaic: Quote The Alexander Mosaic, dating from circa 100 BCE, depicts the Battle of Issus (333 BCE) between Alexander the Great and Darius III of Persia. It is one of the most spectacular and recognisable depictions of Alexander the Great and Darius III. Alexander is depicted riding his horse Bucephalus, while Darius is on a chariot. This video explores the messages and details in this mosaic. The mosaic was originally found in the House of the Faun in Pompeii. The original is preserved in the Naples National Archaeological Museum. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Mosaic Summary: It will be interesting to see the final repairs. guy also known as gaius Edited January 11, 2021 by guy
Crispina
It was created by a true artist. I would love to see it in person. By the way, I'm always tempted to scroll down and about on the pages to read about other exciting finds. The video of the Acropolos Museum was amazing. That would be wonderful to see as well.
