Viggen Posted October 3, 2014 Report Share Posted October 3, 2014 Assistant Professor of Mediterranean Studies - University of Michigan - USA Assistant Professor of Mediterranean Studies The Department of Classical Studies at the University of Michigan has been authorized to fill a position beginning July 1, 2015 at the level of Assistant Professor. The area within Classical Studies is open, although we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Aegean Prehistory, Classical Reception or Ancient Science. Preference will be given to candidates who do not duplicate existing strengths. This position is part of a new University cluster on “The Mediterranean Perspective on Global History and Culture” devoted to studying the Mediterranean as a dynamic area of cultural, religious, social and political exchange (see www.lsa.umich.edu/mediterranean) and involving Classical Studies, History of Art, Judaic Studies, and Romance Languages and Literatures. The candidate must be interested in wide-ranging cross-disciplinary approaches to networks of cultural interaction across the Mediterranean, and will participate in Mediterranean-based curricula and programs both within their own departments and interdepartmentally, including a collaborative undergraduate course on interdisciplinary approaches to the Mediterranean. Qualifications: PhD or equivalent by date of appointment.
