Adonis in Roman Mythology

Recommended Posts

I took a specific interest in Greek Mythology recently and learned a number of obscure Greek Gods and Goddesses. Among them was Adonis. In fact my current account's username is a nod to this Greek character who was the God of Love and Desire and he was significant for being one of the lovers of Aphrodite

From what I can find for much of Ancient times Adonis was worshiped by a number of Mystery Religions and it was not until Imperial Rome that any written source mention women were consoled by a revived Adonis.

Could anyone grant me more info on the Roman version of this minor Greek God beyond what Wikipedia grants?
