Praetoriani Posted November 29, 2011 Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 I have always wondered this, from what I have read and studied it seemed that Brutus was on the fence of Caesar's assassination, but he did have a fear of Caesar's growing powers. amcroja Posted November 29, 2011 Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 Brutus mother was Caesar's mistress, i think Brutus saw Caesar as father figure .i think Brutus felt betrayal toward Caesar that way because Caesar raise him as own son i also it was pride that Caesar betrayed him . GhostOfClayton Posted November 29, 2011 Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) Certainly (and HBO's Rome makes this ab-sol-utel-ly clear) Brutus' mother Servilia influenced him very strongly (even manipulated him) to murder Caesar. Without her influence, he may well not have been involved. JC - Dictator for life, not first Emperor.
