oufc01
Hi all, Just wondered if anyone could please help and provide a translation for the following; 'You can dream, So dream out loud' Many thanks
Ludovicus
"Somniate in voce alta," if you are speaking to more than one person. Otherwise "Somnia in voce alta." Latin has an economy of words. Especially for proverbs and adages.
GhostOfClayton
Latin has an economy of words. Especially for proverbs and adages. Is there a difference between the Latin words for 'sleep' and 'dream'? Edited April 24, 2011 by GhostOfClayton
Ludovicus
"Sleep" and "dream" can be nouns or verbs. As verbs: To sleep is "dormire." To dream is "somniare" As nouns: the noun sleep is "somnus." the noun dream is "somnium". Edited April 25, 2011 by Ludovicus
oufc02
I have a request. I would greatly appreciate a translation of this: "God speaks to those who listen."
NoJobRob
I have a request. I would greatly appreciate a translation of this: "God speaks to those who listen." I used this link to come up with "Deus loquitur audientibus", though I have no idea if it is correct. http://www.stars21.com/translator/english_to_latin.html Anyway, I found this thread while searching for an existing thread for translations. I'm wanting translations for the noun forms of "Strength" and "Honor", yes, like in Gladiator. LOL The link I posted gave me: Strength - robur (ROBVR) Honor - honorem (HONOREM) Ancient Latin was all caps, right? Reason I ask is that I'm trying to come up with a tattoo idea. LOL Thanks.
