lucius artorius castus
i think mostof the material for king arthur with clive owen is historically accurate most historians agrre he was a roman centurion or a celt that was romanized. Onasander
I actually know one of the guys who was in the movie cause I tried out for the Rangers (and failed horribly, I won't lie to you). His scene where he was walking out the door where the father and kid were waiting didn't go down that way. I never even watched the whole movie through because I had doubts after hearing him talk to us, though I know a lot of guys who are fanatic about it. Tobias
i've read "The last legion" by Valerio Maximo, you're right, that King Arthur movie is a blatant rip off, the only difference is the time frame and the fact that Romulus Augustulus doesn't make his way the Britain lol
Hus
I liked this film, despite keira Knightly, her costume and the film's ending/s. Why were the Saxons invading north of Hadrian's Wall?
Ursus
It took me 6 years, because I was waiting to find the DVD dirt cheap from used vendors on Amazon.com But I finally watched King Arthur. Meh. It's not even a good action film.
Hus
You haven't got eBay? Or dvd rental places?
Ursus
I really wasn't in that big of a hurry to watch it. It was like #725 on my list of things to do, and i finally got around to checking amazon for it. Cheers.
DecimusCaesar
Here's a review from historian Alex Von Tunzelmann of Reel History - Reel History - King Arthur As you can imagine it isn't very positive. I've been in to minds about seeing this film for years now. Considering all the negative feedback I have been put off from watching it. Curiously Roger Ebert gave this film a thumbs up even though he's a self confessed "epic movie" hater (he gave Gladiator two thumbs down) and one of my friends said it was an ok film. I have a feeling that like Ursus I'll eventually get round to watching this movie, but not any time soon.
Ursus
That review is spot on. The concept of the movie had potential. But the "historical consultant" seems to be a New Age guru. And the director's main experience was directing music videos. So between the 2 of them I think they killed it.
