Guest spartacus
If you were to host an authentic Roman banquet evening, what would you cook? Also what would you do for Roman entertainment?
pompeius magnus
Well first of all I would not be doing the cooking, instead my Gallic slave Bedoric would. And it would most likely consist of a moxture of seafood- like oysters, shrimp, various fish, lambs meat- as Romans hated beef-, and of course some olive bread with olive oil as well as some very strong wine from m vinard in Campania. skel
magnus.. why do you say they hated beef? is it that they thought it was a barbaric food? ive heard the romans thought of beer as a barbaric drink.. but nothing about beef...? pompeius magnus
The Romans thought of beef to be barbaric food as well as too strong for their stomaches. Just think if you had been eating seafood and then changed to eating just red meat. Your stomache would not be able to handle it without a few rejections.
