Viggen
...here an interview with Kevin Macdonald.... Jordan Hoffman: What qualities of the Roman epic did you want to bring into The Eagle? Kevin Macdonald: I think what
GhostOfClayton
. . . and also a new clip from the film.
Ursus
So this is basically going to be another "Centurion"? A nice popcorn action yarn? Cool.
Medusa
The difference to "Centurion" is that this is based on a novel while "Centurion" was a movie script. But the mysterious disappereance of the Ninth Legion is of course a good source for any stories...
Crispina
I just don't see Jamie Bell as Esca, I guess I had the character pictured completely different in my mind.

Primus Pilus
I actually have modestly decent expectations for this film. I'm going to do everything I can to dismiss the hollywoodization as a necessity for laymen audiences and simply try to enjoy it.
Crispina
I definitely will go see the movie if it comes to my area.
Ursus
I never actually read the book. If it's a popcorn action movie on the same level as "Centurion" I can enjoy it on that level. Edited February 4, 2011 by Ursus
Crispina
Why wasn't the title "Eagle of the Ninth" used?
DecimusCaesar
Why wasn't the title "Eagle of the Ninth" used? I'm curious to find out too. Perhaps the producers thought that the Eagle is a catchier, cooler title. Perhaps they might have changed it in order to not confuse people. I remember reading that The Madness of King George III's title was shortened so that people wouldn't get confused and think it was the third part of a trilogy. Maybe the producers thought of something similar with Eagle of the Ninth. I guess they thought most audiences would ask "Ninth what exactly?" GhostOfClayton
IMDB aludes to the fact that "The Eagle of The Ninth" may be the UK title. If that's the case, US film-makers probably should have more faith in their audience.
Ursus
I saw a trailer for this the other day on the TV. Why is that significant? Well, I don't remember seeing much advertisement for "Centurion" at all when it was in this country.
Aurelia
I guess I'll see it as soon as it's available online. Would rather see it on the big screen but honestly don't feel like watching it in a language other than English...
