Guest spartacus
Speaking for myself I was bitterly disappointed with the recent Ollie Stone movie Alexander! I had high hopes, due to Alexanders exploits but the film is utter rubbish!! Everyone seems to have an irish accent I could not see the first battle due to copius amounts of dust The casting director should be executed The make-up artist must have been getting a back-hander from max factor! Jolie was simply irritating Dont even ask about Farrell - totally out of his depth here! and finally to Ollie Stone, for him, one word - disappointed !! Save your cash - dont bother!! longbow
i liked the movie, the director (stone)used accents to tell the audience the difference between the greeks and the macedons,so the macedons have a irish accent and the greeks english.I did think the battle scenes could of been better (all that dust) but overall i enjoyed it,far better than troy or king arthur.L
Guest spartacus
I think I prefer Troy, at least you could see what was going on!! Gladiator will take some beating! I wonder if there is going to be another "sword n sandals" movie?
Primus Pilus
Gladiator 2 (production title) should be next

Fatboy
yeah, Gladiator rocked, one of the chief reasons being Commodus.Tortured and twisted, a sympathetic bad guy makes all the difference. In Troy though, they seemed afraid to embellish any of the characters and left them all very shallow - and then felt free to have Ammagemnon die at Troy! I nearly put my foot through the TV
skel
i thought as a whole alexander was well done and rather realistic ( i suppose as much as a ancient war/battle could be from our knowledge...) the only problem i had with it was how much they played on his questionable sexual nature. i think its rediculous to make such a big deal out of it especially since my understanding is, that he just MIGHT have been homosexual, not that he was...which the movie made it seem as if he was. longbow
It didnt bother me that much,no matter what his sexuallity was,he was still a great general.I thought they played on his relationship with his mother too much.L
