What the pentagram on the Roman rings means? Hundreds such rings are found mostly in Moesia and Thracia regions.

Here's a decent treatise via the University of Tennessee. In a cursory review, they seem to be suggesting that the Roman origin is through the Greek Pythagoras, but I'd suggest a more in depth investigation.
