Are there any eastern (Indian) sources that tell a different side of the story? I found some scattered info on the internet, but I wasn't sure of the reliability. The most important Indian states of that time were located further east on the valley of the Ganges River and were not impacted by the Macedonian conquest. Gladius Hispaniensis Posted March 21, 2010 Report Share Posted March 21, 2010 I believe his actual name was Paurava. There is a Paurava dynasty mentioned also in the famous epic the Mahabharata. One thing that has never been clear to me is if this particular king ruled the entire Indo-Gangetic plain or if he was just one of the local rulers there.
