barca
Turn? What turn was that? The descrioption of the battle I have (via John Drogo Montagu) is that that the Thebans advanced in a more or less straight toward the spartan line. The Theban Left Wing smashed the Spartan Right Wing and then turned right to roll up the rest of the Spartans. The sacred band also went along side the Theban left to protect its flank, and it also turned to the right after the Spartan Wing was destroyed. caldrail
Therefore formation integrity was less of an issue than the initial advance, considering the enemy was withdrawing in disorder.
