  1. since there werent just greeks and romans around in ancient times, here is an article about CELTIC Homosexuality. http://ipc.paganearth.com/diaryarticles/bo...eer/queer3.html
  2. This text is from wikipedia and extracted from these sources. 1 Suetonius, Lives of the Caesars, "Caesar", ii., 45-53 2 Smith, Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, p. 1197 This article incorporates text from the 1911 Encyclop
  3. Agree with Lost_Warrior, Would also like to meet the great Julius Caesar, but in Egypt, that way i would propably also get a chance to take a look at Cleopatra. To see, how good she really looked like.
  4. No, MILAN has no relation to The Veneti tribes what so ever. Milan and Todays Lombardy Region was practicaly empty , because it was still a very swampy and unfertile piece of land. The Insubrians (celtic-gauls) inhabited the land as the first, and milan was their main Village and Settlement, Back then it was called "Mid-Land" which was celtic gaul language for "in the middle of the plains" once the Romans conquered that terretory they called it Mediolanum (latin for and the same meaning "middle of the plains") Than Milan and todays Lombardy region was conquered by the Langobards (west-germanic tribe) in 572 ad. The Langobards called it Mailand (may land)(its still called like that in german today) The Langobards had the huge influence on the Milanese and Northern italians (because the Langobards basically melted together wirth the Native romans, they made Pavia ( a town 40 km southwest of milan) the Capital of their kingdom. The Influence of the langobards (who mixed and therefor stayed forever, but only ruled for 250 years) is still visible in the Milanese dialect, which is basically a mix of Latin and German (just like french) and is therefor closer to french then to italian, for example their city saint is Saint Ambrose, in italian thats Sant'Ambrogio in milanese its Sankt Ambr
  5. All i know about the Venetians, is that is was Veneti terretory, before Roman arrival, but the islands in the lagoon were not inhabitant , they were inhabitant around 500ad, by refugees coming from the north east, the name comes from the salute that the refugees created "veni etiam" meaning " i also came here" or from the ancient tribe the veneti. the venetians in their early stage, were nothing but pirates, they plundered citie in the east adriatic coast (croatia-montenegro) and also plundered Alexandia, taking the grave and remains of St. Mark with them back to venice, were St. Marks Cathedral was build and the grave of saint mark put to rest. From there on the venetians used the holy lion of st. mark as their symbol and flag. Byzantine couldnt really control venice, because it was to busy dealing with tribes threatening to enter the byzentine ground. Venice first used a DUX (latin for leader) as their head, the term Doge comes from DUX and is the venetian dialect version of DUX.
  6. I think that the Romans had e very good relation to wolfes and dogs, the ancient italics (before they used the greek god system and created a god for everything) worshiped the wolf. I think, thats also why the Romans had the wolf as their prime symbol followed by the eagle, because they still in a way worshiped what their ancestors the italics did. The Italian Spinone (or italian griffon) is said to be a dog breed that was propably around the roman times in the Cottian Alps (today Piemonte, italy). Its a very Loyal and great hunting dog.
  7. I have a question, what kind of film type is that, is that a 3d animated series or a real actors documentary??
  8. well, he never took hold of any city or terretory, i will give credit for managing to bring elephants across the alps, and for winning the battle of cannae. But he never realy troubled rome, the romans constanly attacked him and his troops, weakening him everytime. But as you said, in the end he failed and wasnt the least bit effective. The romans were effective, cause we all know what happend once the Romans entered Carthage and north africa. 9. personally ithink that KINGS of AFRICA is total [obscenity deleted by mod], in terms of hannibal. Hannibal was by no means black, and the iformation, is also false, in terms of italy. Italy didnt exist back than, it was Italica. And Hannibal never took hold of any italic roman city. He destroyed a couple of villages and won a few battles, but never really invaded anything. he just strolled around for 14 years (with celtic gaul mercanaries) and than got called back to carthage because th romans were attacking them.
  10. @pantagathus first of all, sorry for my bad english, i am german and in german we use different terms for the ancient world, thats why i spelled Phoenician with a Y. at the topic africans: well, i guess thats the debate, i know that carthage was a phoenician settlement. But like egypt, carthage had a massive black community, who were the common people and mostly the military. If you look at a bust of hannibal, you can asume that he is white, but that was just the "royalty". their culture was deffinetly mediteranean, mostly greek style. heres a bust of hannibal http://www.bartleby.com/86/3201.gif but if you look here, you get doubts o fhow hannibal realy looked like http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/aafri/king.html
  11. yes, the Moores invaded iberia aswell, and ended VisiGoth (west Goths) rule. And stayed for about 800 years till iberia was completely liberated. But your question , suprises me. Yes, the Carthagians(phynicias) were africans. CARTHAGE the city, was build about 50 km north of todays Tunis(capital of tunisia north africa)the carthage terretory was whats today Algeria Morocco tunisia and a bit of western Lybia. And the cathage people had good relationship with black africans. The Carthage established 2000 Ethiopian archers in iberia, to further secure it, from the Roman army. here is a map.of Cathage before wars against rome. http://www.barca.fsnet.co.uk/Graphics/carthage-rome-218.gif

(Legionarium X Equistri) Julis Caesar and his beloved LEG X and other LEGs(in total 4000 legionares) conquered and slaughtered 40.000 celtic gauls and invaded the terretory now known as France. Later the LEG X EQ invaded Britain. 13. Romans didnt kill Jesus Christ, the Jews did. Romans invaded Palestine and Judea and hated the jews, they massacred them at various occasions. killing the first borns etc. Jesus was about to establish a new religion. and that was a thorne in the eyes of the Jewish priests. Most Romans didnt even know about jesus existence. The jews (in the form of judas) betrayed jesus, the jews persecuted jesus, and also judged uppon him, they said that jesus is the king of the jews and plans a revolt agianst rome(which is a total lie, jesus is the son of god, and did not plan a revolt against rome). Because pontius Piltes famous words "I WASH MY HANDS IN INNOCENT" , but the romans were the rulers of this land and there for the justice system. so the romans had to crucify him. under the terms that jesus was a troublemaker. Petrus tan FLED to rome. fearing persecution by he jewish priests. He converted a bunch of roman civilians. to christianity. Christianity grew rapidly across rome. because it promised them a life after death. It became a thread to the roman leaders, because the roman beliefs were in multiple gods(as we all know Mars=god of war, Jupiter=god of all gods, Fortuna=godess of luck,etc.etc.) so the Roman Christians were forced into the underground, literrly, they builded CATACOMBS and had secret messages. Nero, persecuted the roman christians, and threw the captured ones in the Colosseum against the lions. But Caesar Constantine, had a dream about a Fire Cross and an angel talking to him, saying "if you put a cross on each legionare, than, you will win the upcoming battle". So he did, and so he won. and made christianity the official religion. and christianity spread across the whole roman empire (todays europe).and the Roman Catholic church took shape. 14. Ibernia (spain and portugal) were ruled by africans(phynicians). than the romans invaded iberia in the first of the punic wars, than hannibal conquered it back, and than the Imperial Romans invaded it again in the second Punic war.
