  1. I believe Wikipedia also gives you links to many sites with Latin phrases.
  2. I remember seeing a chart in my Latin class that states 80% of scholarly words are derived from Latin. About 65-70 %(not sure, somewhere around there) of the whole english language is latin-derived. The remaning 30 % are probably mostly french, german, and swedish
  3. Did everyone in Romania support and agree with the re-Romanization or did they just not care. Do Romanians take much pride in their past? I'm just really curious because you don't see many nations in history that tries to revert back to the old.
  4. You can use STETERUNT which is the in the perfect tense which translates into STOOD instead of STAND. There are other words for stand, but this is what the real Romans would use to imply that they are standing. I prefer steterunt over stant because it grammatically sounds better in you have stood confounded rather than stand confounded.
  5. Wow that's really one hardcore guy, I seem to get the feeling that he is also a pyscho. Oh to stay on topic, another horrible punishment is the widespead getting your limbs and body pulled apart by horses going in different directions. I believe Hernando Cortes also used this method later on.
  6. I went to the theaters yesterday and saw this preview that had characters British and Austrailian accents and it seemed like it was probably in the outback of Autrailia but the time period is modern, but it was called Wolf's Creek. I thought it was the Proposition or something at first.
  7. I didn't think Britain still had that much of a political importance or happenings after the Fall. I just assumed that they were the old-fashioned conquer or get conquered again in a civil war.
  8. We can give you latin names, but I need the meaning behind your first and last name, I can do middle and replace it with your first if you prefer. Also you need to adopt one praenomen(id est Marcus, Lucius, Gaius, et cetera)
  9. HMM, I wonder how long it would take me to get to 2000 posts and become an administrator or mod.
  10. My Latin class finally goes on a field trip to the Field Museum and they just installed a huge Pompeii exhibit. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what to look at the exhibit and you guess want me to ask some questions or get details. This is gonna be awesome.
  11. 1) Ubi malus consternatus stant, me cum sancti cincti vocat.(My translation, there are many different words for wicked, surrounded, and saints.) Confutatis maledictis, Voca me cum benedictis.( this is from the official latin text, notice how many words are missing. I really don't like the choice of words they chose too. The Church really is bad at this but its an endless ritual chant so they don't have time to say everything. Also notice there aren't any verbs int it.WEIRD)
  12. His name first intrigued me because it sound so cool, then I did some searching on him, but so far, I haven't got enough info.
  13. So is this movie suppose to be a suspense dramatic thriller or some sort of film that looks like a documentary. Is it going to released widescreened too?
  14. I'm just curious if there were any Latin teachers.
