  1. No, I don't think so because Russia at the time was being conquered by the Mongols in 1241 and remained so until all of Timuchin's sons died. So really, the Russians had their own problems to deal with.
  2. Well you can blame Caesar for causing the fall of the Imperium by not conquering Germania Magna. (Seriously, give it a thought)
  3. Was the Legio IV even with Caesar during that period?
  4. I'm pretty sure, but it was more likely that the nail Helena gave to Constantine was actually put in the Spear of Longinus, not some Lombard crown, though that can happen. But anyways, good info digging LEG X EG, I would read your posts anytime. By the way, what was this anti-pope that Barbarossa established?
  5. Thank you Tobias for your answer, that's what I thought too. So its not uncommon to see Leopard-skinned centurions in Britannia.
  6. Sorry, I don't get the cd thing. Oh yay, Thanksgiving means no school.
  7. Tartarus I think is a cool choice. But you know what is also cool, Chaos - which means the pits of hell, underworld, and shapeless primordial matter. (also spelled Chaus)
  8. I suppose this is from the Rome set.
  9. Reminds me of gladiatorial helmets.
  10. Oh, what have I gotten myself into. Well, here's what everyone requested: For Pandora's answer: A poisoned girl with a vampire heart. ----> Venata puella cum lamia corde. A BIG NOTE: ( You can also use femalla, which means a young woman, girl. For vampire, you can use lamia, striga, and strige, but they don't directly mean vampire, they mean either witch bogey, evil spirit, a screech owl(which is a bad bird omen), but heres the thing, all in common mean one who eats children/ or drink their blood. Lastly, there are many words for heart. Such as pecte( means breast, heart;feeling soul), robore( means military strenght, main element, heart, might, power), and animo( means mind, spirit, intellect, and courage...) Note: learning latin by yourself is extremely hard, no computer program can master you at it. For Sextus Roscius' answer: The Roman Empire fell because of its numbers system.: Romanum Imperium quod sui numerorum constitutionem cecedi. Note( I'm not sure if I'm right, but this the closest I know, there are so many words for sytsem and fell. For Shannon, here's what I have in mind: I hope your pregnancy goes well.---> Tuum conceptionem spero bene ivi. Note:(I'm not sure about goes (ivi) Oh by the way Shannon, tell me if you find the sentence not adequate.
  11. Artorius never fought the Saxons. Well that is my view, backfire's view, well I don't know where he got his info from. Well anyways, its not impossible for monks to write about someone who existed hundreds of years earlier. All you need is historical knowledge and thats it, the same with Livy.
  12. I'm curious, from the movies and mosaics I saw, who were the ones who wore leopard skin. Because they look really cool.
  13. Thank you Primus for answering my question. Starvation aye, thats really another horrible way to go since your body is pretty much feeding on itself to stay alive.
  14. The way you put it Skarr makes me go crazy for more Rome.
  15. I can translate it for you, but you need to give me the sentence or sentences you want me to translate from english into latin. Oh by the way, when is your teacher having the baby so I can get the Latin sentences to you before she is dued. It shouldn't take me long by the way.
  16. Yet another beautiful landscape photo. My my, I'm such a scenery whore.
  17. Imagine if the thiefs whom stole the Mona Lisa had defaced it, how history would have changed.
  18. Well if you want to say Red Squirrel literally, it would be: Sciurus Rutilus or Sciurus Ruber or Sciurus Roseus Lets see here: Sciurus, -i , masculine - squirrel(that's what sciurus literally means and its also second declension) Vulgaris, vulgaris, vulgare ( its an adjective) - it means usual, common, commonplace, everyday So " Sciurus Vulgaris" means The Everyday or Common Squirrel.
  19. I actually like oysters, well when they are seasoned. Eating them merely cooked is quite unbearable.
  20. Before I read about the Knights Templar, Byzantine Cataphracts were my favorite mounted soldiers, sadly the Persian wars and the plague wore the Byzantine army out so bad.
  21. Now, I totally agree with you there, especially Constantinus and his father. I can only imagine Constantine at the battle at the Milvian Bridge, where the muddy Tiber river ran red with blood.
  22. Sigh, I despise private owners who just buy things to make their house look good than for its historical importance.
  23. Fat gladiators eh... So what was their diet made up of to give them their rotund bodies?
  24. Thanks to that website, I think I do now have an idea what garum is like. I have tried the Vietnamese fish sauce regularly, its not bad. It really isn't meant to make stuff taste good, just to give a exotic salty taste.
