  1. I don't know what you mean by the first sentence, but ok. As for the second sentence, well you know the all-powerful leader mentality. No one should be above the emperor stuff. I really wonder what during what part of Nero's life spark a great artistic interest in him. It must have been quite random.
  2. Yes, that was cool.Just how wide is the Rhine during that time anyways? I also wish the History Channel put on Rome week again, that was cool.
  3. Haha, so much cultural difference. So when do children stop believe in Christkindl over there? Oh lost warrior, I thought the snowflake was some pagan sign or something, hehe, its no wonder it takes half the brain for the process of vision, yet the human eye is still easily deceptible.
  4. If I had to decide on a female Nero, it would definitely be Theodora. But I would select Basil II.
  5. So is there any symbolism with your pic. Merry Christmas to you.
  6. Makes me think, I don't think I should even bother with this thread anymore, I'm pretty sure there's someone better than me would be around almost 24/7 helping out the best way translating. I don't mind people correcting me, its just that they take great pride in it(my opinion)People these days.
  7. Why do you think Viggen calls himself Imperator, it gives him the feeling of immense power, WHICH HE DOES HAVE.
  8. Ha, Ecce Romani my arse, I would never use that thing. Though I'm still in high school, learning both Greek and Latin and in Roman grammar, I'm well beyond it, now I just study Roman history and culture. You see, I like to translate things literal and what people ask for to the best of my ability of what they contextually means. And what's the point of you trying to insult, is that all you registered for. " Everyone has their own ways of translating things." And pretty much, both our translations can mean the same thing, yet different use of words. My dictionary is oxford by the way. To the mods(don't mind these post, I'm only a bit vexed.)
  9. Hmm, the Austrian version of Halloween, except you guys intend to scare the kiddies. It's all about the candy over here.
  10. Looks like a marvelous flower with the exception of the leaves.
  11. Wow, that paragraph was truly an example of good Roman propaganda. Obviously, that was Livy's job anyways.
  12. Well your friends sentence is incomplete. I think your friend is looking for a hortatory subjunctive. If it was in the correct it would translate as---> May(or Let) missiles finding you always have a chance on the way. Your friend putted his words in really bad word order and he seems to forget a direct object, you. I think he means: May(let) missiles always have a chance at finding you on the way.(road whatever)
  13. Why does everyone try to correct. Jeez people, anyways your wrong. Semper means always, not forever. And there isn't a word for legend, theres only fabula. The viva you used is an adverb whiles its suppose to be intended as a verb vivo. Forever should be the adverb part. Where the heck you get heos from, its means master;lord.By the way, in can be used but not really the best grammatical answer. Prae can be used. Believe me, my dictionary and vocab is realiable.
  14. I think I've seen something like that growing pestfully in our backyard. Well I don't its the thing you have.
  15. For a moment there, your post was almost off-topic until the last sentence. I think that statement is absurd, not to mention that the Roman Empire already fell. In terms of evolution, it was more of a step backwards, considering Western Europe had just entered the Medieval Age, where there wasn't a real central government which is one main thing that designated the Romans. In my opinion, the last evolutionary stage of the Roman Empire would have been a modern democracry instead of a Feudal heirarchy.
  16. Uh... so saying that you are a Roman was the whole point of this post? Oh by the way, it should be Civis Romanus sum.
  17. Thanks, I wished AMC showed it again now. Hm, I'm surprised St. Peter's even included in the movie. During the "fire", it definitely portrayed Nero as pyschotic, playing his harp while watching the fire.
  18. The Romans sure found uses for se alcoholem. But I'm never never never never gonna drink, never in my life, seriously.
  19. Yeah, sadly the humble part about the Cornelii was no more during Caesar's time.
  20. I have, but I can't seem to remember the guy's name and his wife either. The movie seemed pretty accurate to me with the exception of that one senator who seemed to be only around one slave girl, peculiar. If he loved her, he might as well have married her already or get one with the other slave girls. Idealistacally not Roman culture. Oh by the way, how did the slave girl(the main character) convert the guy to Christianity anyways.
  21. Well the Pope was still considered an agent of Rome even during the Byzantine Era. The canon laws are written in Latin. Catholic masses use to be held in Latin(the agony). Really, just go to the library and find a book on the Vatican. It would be nonsense not to find a book giving info and claiming that the Church is the last vestige of Roman culture.
  22. I suppose they were just pitied and left alone because of their pathetic nature. Pretty sad, I would also assume that they were outcasts, many were smart to isolate themselves from society. Life would just go on by normally and the crippled would try to get by it too by any means. For example, in one of Jesus' healing story, lepers would come out at night to the baths (near some Roman institution) and there Jesus healed them because in Jesus' time, it was best for lepers to isolate themselves from the common people during the day. I'd also assume that situation would be the same in Rome.
  23. Funny, I tried googling her, and all I came up with was posts from UNRV about her.
