    Well losing your spear was better than losing your shield, because then, people would definitely know you've fled from battle since its so heavy to carry while you're retreating. What I mentioned was a somewhat motto for the Spartans, their mothers would no longer regard them as her son if he didn't bring back his shield.

    Attenborough on American tv, no, not that I've heard. In America we like drama, especially reality tv but that trend is kinda dying. Octavia is named Kerry Condon, she's Irish.

    You can make a movie on it, but I doubt Romanophiles would want to see a movie where the greatest empire on Earth fall which is why movies tend to portray the invincible Roman army thing.

    All these theories, but which one is closer to the truth. Hey, we could be all wrong, just look at the Caucasus origin theory. Oh, while watching the history channel, I came upon a good documentary about the Nazi's trying to prove their Aryan origins. The Nazi's made a few good correlations in physical features, but it was eventually all falsified so they wouldn't get killed by Hitler by presenting unwanted truths.

    Yes I do love the history channel, sadly I don't have the military channel boohuhuh, I really want to see our guys in Iraq kick the heck out of the insurgents.     I don't have any but I think the pilum is kinda cool because it was really powerful and it had a pyschological effect with the little hole at the bottom of the spear that make that really scary noise that something is coming at you.

    From what I know, they just fled to the safest provinces where they had estates. Most probably in the countryside, but my answer is wrong. But that's interesting, where did they go next after the senate.

    Sure, you can speak out if you want yourself to get persecuted. Things that brought down Rome: 1) Barbarian incursions 2) A society decaying 3) The legions weren't well-trained at all, it was so bad that even Aetius could not rally together an army during Atila's second invasion. 4) Plenty of reasons 5)+

    I see, now thats a horrible punishment. I sincerely regard that statement as absurd, even Nero can't last that long without taking a break from playing.

    If the Catholic Europe united to fight for Constantinople, undoubtedly they would definitely save Constantinople. But you know from history, there's got to be material incentives and the offer you can't refuse for any army to travel 30,000 miles to defend some distant country. Plus, the quarreling between the 2 denominations sure didn't help the Byzantines out.
