  1. UUUUUUUU, I like this. Perhaps you can do a hummingbird with complicated colors into a wallpaper? I ask too much don't I?
  2. I'm not a linguistic expert, but saying Slavic elements mixed with Romanian doesn't stop it from still being closely related to Latin. Sure a good number of Romanian words may drift away from the Latin spelling and meaning, but its structure of grammar and way of speaking can still make it close to Latin. Plus, its amazing for any culture(id est the Dacians) to retain the majority of its Roman roots after being isolated from the Roman Empire 300 years later after being conquerd by Trajan, not to mention countless Barbarian tribes invading it. Being along and making up the majority of the Danubian border sucks since its where many barbarians pass through.
  3. It's practical when you have hundreds of slaves, prisoners, and criminals working till death on a section of the Great Wall. A good reason why 1 million people died building the Great Wall and the main reason why you can find skeletons lying in or around the Wall.
Valete! Valete per annum novum! Beatus supreme regnat, Flavius Valerius Constantinus
  5. Its sad to see that, apparently the Turkish and Greek goverments haven't been on talking terms.
  6. Wow, the guy who reviewed is...well, pretty perverted and horrible. I mean, look at those comments he made, I doubt they were even about the book.
  7. That reminds me, Claudius II Gothicus is another favorite of mines.
  8. Here's the most probably answer(Taken from Microsoft Encarta Online):
  9. Is this like for a movie. Well, my personal favorite is Constantinus Magnus.
  10. Nevermind, my mistake. I assumed wrong about there being another Attila film. You guys were talking about British movie production, I thought there was an American one, turns out to be the British one and both the same. So in the end, I'm an idiot. By the way, I didn't think the movie wasn't so bad. The historical accuracy was darn wrong and the drama was boring, but I didn't think the battles were lame. Thought they did just fine with the battle scene.
  11. UNRV list of Roman enemies I noticed that there were a few gaps and missing leaders. One I do recall is from: There was Chrocus (named by Gregory of Tours) who was king of the Alamanni. They launched a major invasion of Gaul and northern Italy in 268, when the Romans were forced to denude much of their German frontier of troops in response to a massive invasion of the Goths. Fortunately, Claudius II Gothicus defeated them and so did Aurelian. (note: Chrocus was later an ally of Julius Constantius in 308) 411AD-436AD: In 411AD, Gundahar was king of the Burgundians. He was an ally of Rome by foederati and Honorius granting the Burgundians land. Burgundian raids into Roman Upper Gallia Belgica vexed the Romans and it become intolerable to the Roman general Aetius who called in Hun mercenaries(including Atila) to crush the Burgundians and which they did so in 436AD. I'll try to see if I can dig up any other major enemies from the sources.
  12. they probably have only a license to deliver the music within the USA, i had the same problem (wasnt aware of the license issue though and just added a USA postal code (90210 hehe, the only postal code i know (you know the teenager series from the 90s) and then it just went on to deliver music... cheers, viggen LOL, Beverly Hills 90210. Well if you need another American zip code, mine is 60660 ( pretty easy isn't it).
  13. Has anyone seen the American version, well its a long movie that's like a B/Epic movie. They often show it on the History Channel. Its much better. As how you guys described this one, it seems horribly bad then.
  14. Holy...I love this site. Thank you Viggen, this is one of the best sites I've seen so far. They have almost all my artists.
  15. *bangs head on desk* Haha, I'm pretty reckless. I gotta start noticing gender difference. There's always something I forget to remember.
  16. I haven't seen any of those old movies. But I do know all about El Cid from a History Channel documentary. Didn't he remained undefeated and ruled peacefully over whats that city?
  17. link to Nuntii Latini this one is by a Finnish Radio Group Well for those that really want to learn, this is a site where the news is in Latin. Look for the link Recitatio and in your Real player, the news would is said in Latin, quite cool. So far, I'm able to understand like 70%+ of it when listening and reading it. You should look at the forum they have, all the conversation is in Latin, though its not complicated once you get use to writing in Latin. IT all matters about your knowledge of vocabulary. Another site This one is the same as Nuntii Latini but a little dif, but its by a German Radio Group. Note: the news may seem a little old and mostly about Europa. I prefer Nuntii Latii because they pronounce the words so much more clearly and better.
  18. Pater meus, amicus. or Pater mea, amicus meus. Darn, I keep forgetting gender difference
  19. I'm not sure about the Germans, but I remembered a documentarly long ago comparing the bones of Romans and Gauls. The Roman soldier average 5'1 to 5'3. The Gauls averaged 5'8. If the Germans were 5'10, there's really not much support in saying in size or genetics matters because the Romans easily beated the Gauls who were not much less bigger than the Germans.
  20. It was against Ariovistus when the Romans began to panick because the Aedui described the Germans like they were invincible and terrorizing which got spreaded among the soldiers and thus cowardice and fear ensued, but Caesar calmed them down by gathering the centurions and complimenting them about their past deeds against the Helvetii...et alia, which changed their minds.
  21. Link Malaysia is tracking down an American citizen believed to be hiding in a foreign country, in connection with a large number of historical items found in several containers seized here last September. Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said Philip Greco, who holds a permanent resident (PR) status of this country through the "Malaysia My Second Home" programme, was wanted by the authorities in this country in connection with the historical and heritage goods which had been linked to him.
