Hadrian's Wall (toward Vircovicium)

My Latin teacher privately told me about this, about how much of a misconception it was. However during the early Republic, the people was the army. The citizens were also soldiers were they not. So really, saying the Roman Senate and People still would have had the same meaning in the early 'Republic.' But of course, it changed with Marius. By the way, its ok to say the Senate and People of Rome, but in literal text, Romana is an adjective, so you can't really say Rome as a noun in SPQR, unless it was idiomatic.

link to article Deep in the soft black earth beneath the cleared slum tenements of old Istanbul, Metin Gokcay points to neatly stacked and labelled crates heaped with shattered crockery. "That's mostly old mosaics and old ceramics," said the Istanbul city archaeologist. "And over there we found bones and coins." Looking at huge slabs of limestone emerging from a depth of more than 7 metres (25ft) below ground, he adds: "That's late Roman, this is early Byzantine. This tunnel here is very interesting. Perhaps Constantine's mother had her palace over there...

The History Of Unrv

Yeah, didn't think he'd have the guts to try it. I liked the one in Gabon I think it was where he had to ingest that foul tasting halucinogenic root for hours on end and vommitted it all up inside the tent. Was it really that bad? All he did was complain, but I think he was too messedup to realize his horrible state until the next day. But its amazing how the locals can run through the jungle without getting tired and being able to focus the aim of the spear because Bruce and cameraman barely had any breath left and they so looked inferior compared to the locals. Not sure, but didn't he visit the Aboriginees?

Is that suppose to be a serious comment?

I've seen it, sadly its not on any more. Its funny how every tribe has really sick rituals and traditions he has to adapt to, but he does it willingly. The best one was with the tribe who had a fighting with long sticks tournament.

Link to Article Read the article and you'll find it interesting. Turns out, Iraq is eventually gonna turn stable and the insurgency will die out later. Apparently, the Ramadi insurgents now has decided to form an alliance and fight an all out war against Al Quaeda who have been responsible for killing many Revolutionaries who now see that politics is the only way to get what they want in Iraq since the election results show strong Sunni gains. Apparently Al Quaeda doesn't like this and they started killing Revolutionary leaders and innocent civilians which now the Rev. are pretty damn piss. Its all been going like this, Assasination then Reprisal.

link A large medieval cemetery containing around 1,300 skeletons has been discovered in the central English city of Leicester, archaeologists said Tuesday. The bones were found during a dig before the site is developed as part of a 350 million-pound ($630 million) shopping mall. University of Leicester archaeologists say the find promises to shed new light on the way people lived and died in the Middle Ages...

link[/url Egyptologists have discovered a statue of Queen Ti, wife of one of Egypt's greatest pharaohs and grandmother to the boy-king Tutankhamun, at an ancient temple in Luxor, an Egyptian antiquities official said on Tuesday. The official said the roughly 3,400 year-old statue was uniquely well preserved. Ti's husband, Amenhotep III, presided over an era which saw a renaissance in Egyptian art. "It was a time of flourishing of art in ancient Egypt ... Behind a good man is a strong woman. And she was a very strong lady," said Sabry Abdel Aziz, head of the Pharaonic department at Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities...

Archeologists said Friday they have spotted what appears to be the roof of another tomb in a 3,000-year-old necropolis, the latest discovery about a little-known hut-dwelling people who preceded the legendary founders of Rome by some three centuries. Archeologist Alessandro Delfino said the roof is just metres from a tomb he discovered and dug up on Thursday that appears to date to about 1000 BC. The location was under Caesar's Forum, which is part of the sprawling complex of imperial forums in the heart of modern Rome. Thursday's find set off a storm of excitement among archeologists in Rome, as they anticipate a possible treasure trove of artifacts and architecture that could greatly enlarge knowledge about that period, which roughly straddles the transition from Bronze to Iron ages... via Cnews

Because Caesar was only officially a dictator and the concept of Imperator wasn't thought of yet until Augustus who created it.

What To Bring With You?
FLavius Valerius Constantinus replied to Pantagathus's topic in Hora Postilla Thermae
I kind of had that in mind, but what if you just by going to the past change the events already so that any decision made wouldn't really affect the current future you came from? Oh by the way Lost Warrior, I already said a Latin Dictionary. But then it wouldn't be any good if you haven't taken a course on the Latin language yet. Its not like english, the language is inflective, not to mention you'd have to learn how to read the archaic style of writing. -
Not really Neos, the casualties wasn't really a main reason though it had part in it. In my opinion and that of other historians, Aetius could have finished off the Huns if he wanted to, but he didn't because of the strategic value. If the Huns are gone, who will Goths, Vandals,Franks, Burgundians, Alamanni, et alia be focused on fighting and so it would only read to the fastening of the fall of Rome. However, Aetius didn't count on the condition of Rome to be so bad that during second Hunnic incursion he wasn't even able to raise an army, it was just that bad. Here's a good site on the battle of Chalons The casualties were never exactly given, so we will never know but Jordanes' offers the number of dead was 165,000, excluding the casualties of the Franko-Gepid skirmish previous to the main battle while Hydatius, a historian who lived at the time of Attila's invasion, reports the number of 300,000 dead. The numbers are exagerrated though because the battle really only had about 100,000 participants. So the dead could have been around 50,000 or less if the casualtie was so high on both sides total. Just google battle of Chalons and you'll find lots of information.

In terms of massacre- Cannae (You know, 50,000 died because the Romans broke through the center but 'all' rushed through the gap which allowed Hanninbal's both flanks to encircle the Romans.) In terms of how fast the dying was and fierce was it- The Battle of Chalons I believe a historian said 25,000 died on the Roman side within the first few hours. Of course in my opinion.
