  1. Diodorus Siculus...never thought he'd be that popular.
  2. I kind of question the thought that the Romani used elephants as their main offensive tactic. Can you explicably(in depth) explain this strategy? Anyone care to comment on this too?
  3. Incoming! Watch out for the ears!
  4. I'm from Chicago and my high school latin class already took a trip to there. Now I must say, I saw a lot of cool stuff I thought I would never be able to see. I was so happy that day.
  5. So the only thing new in my life now is that lacrosse season now starts. For lacrosse, all I ever do is practice for two hours in the unbearable cold to the point of not feeling my fingers, luckily springtime is making it warmer. Boy do I just hate running/conditioning, run run run... that's lacrosse for ya. Oh wells, as long as I'm staying active and the feeling of belong to an actual team is awesome. By the way, we're called the Loyola Ramblers. Aside, my life still sucks. I can drive now, but don't take advantage of it. All I do is go to Borders and Starbucks, or the movies. I still don't have a girlfriend yet, pretty miserable but not much concern . So yeah, dull isn't it. All I have is my humor to keep my happy. Way off, I was watching the movies Constantine and the Mummy today, now I must say, Rachel Weis is the second hottest woman ever! Natalie Portman is #1 of course, but its like a 1/2 standing. Pointing being, Rachel Weis is smoking!!!!!!! Yaowza!
  6. A detailed interesting article, but the second half of it was a bit dull just because we Romanophiles know all of that. Point-being, I wanted more info on the way the men/skeletons might have died.
  7. Prometheus, I'm not trying to take a modern view of the issues you are pointing out. This is just a harmless thread on how the Roman's would conduct them.
  8. Just a little topic for the forum. If you had to conquer a nation/tribe/territory... of any scale, how would you do it? What generals/legions would you send? What was your reason/ or facade for invasion? After domination, what policies would you pursue in order to keep your new acquisitions at bay?
  9. Sounds unusually cool, but oh the firestorm that will come with that statement.
  10. I love the water reflection and sunset.
  11. Or Arthur didn't even exist at all and no longer the term legend is appliable but rather myth.
  12. Did you know that Hong Kong has a really bad pollution problem? A good reason why the city sometimes seem horrible to breath.
  13. How the hell did that thing survive in the...
  14. Nevermind, I found it. But the Russian really isn't helping me differentiate the maps.
  15. Phil...you know many of us are English speakers right? But nice collection though.
  16. Depends on how much influence the Christians have and their numbers. If it was substantial, Augustus would wisely pursue political relations instead of persecution.
  17. A hawk? Darn, I really can't tell the difference between falcons, eagles, and hawks. Maybe a little help?
  18. You sure love nature Lacertus, but tell me you're not one of those activists are you? Maybe even an eco-terrorist? JK
  19. Here's the thread you are looking for : link It's spelled Varangian- probably why you couldn 't find it
  20. Don't forget about the bodies of water such as the Mare Nostrum. Actually, about Spain, the Roman Equivalent is Hispania, not Hispaniae. Pretty much else is if you are going to use the actual classical names of cities and places, don't mix it with the modern equivalents of english.
  21. Yeah, but how would a 4th century Roman recall a pre-Christ Roman.
  22. The only way for retribution back now if the diplomat's home country is smart enough to realize this might hurt foreign relations and so they might punish him.
  23. I have a speech project, and I intend to do it on a classical orator/speech. Just wondering if anybody can give me some of the most influential speech of classical times and the person who said it too. Thanks a lot.
