  1. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/11/131129101905.htm Really? I get weirded out everytime I see them take gigantic sampled bigger than my thumb from fossils, now this? Why cant we just find normal lead underground? We have like.... deep mines all over the world, I cant believe they are ruined, yet a little water protects the Roman lead. And were the Romans that much better at making high quality, pure lead that we cant begin to match them?
  2. Im going to start punching and verbally abusing the snow.... right now, the weather has been getting colder the last eleven years here, and the ice has been returning in the arctic. If we measure a sudden increase in temperature, reversing climate trends, know it was me. I want to Nobel Prize for making the snow to go away by bullying it away. Its alot more rational than the current thinking regarding the Cryosphere. It can only cry if it melts, but wont cry unless you force it to. Thats the Cryosphere in a nutshell. Makes more sense than the rest of this global warming/Stoic Heat Death Apocalypse stuff.
  3. There is about as much data out there that man caused the iceage to end as Krishna and Arjurna ended the Mahabhrata War.... quoting the numbers only expresses concensus, reality experienced from my senses says otherwise, as does common sense reason. Its been getting colder. Snow falls sooner and sooner here, more blizzards, bigger floods. Im not required to dance to a consensus that rides against the obvious. There is snow outside. WTF? Why has this last decade been so cold? I recall here in 1862, during the summer month of august, many civilwar troops froze to death. Am I to deny my own senses, and throw away reason, geology, and history to embrace a apocalyptic religion that coherses people into believing its own absurd ends, at the threat of being called stupid or an idiot? Was is flint napping that drove the glaciers away? The bronze age black smithing? Low level athmospheric pollution from a few thousand factories in the 19th century? Do you honestly think their output came anywhere close to a volcano's output in a single eruption? Screw Gaia, Screw Gore Messiah, and screw the culture of doctoring scientific evidence. If someone has a solution to the snow problem, tell me now.... I will make it go away. Do I sprinkle transfats on it? Do I build a snowman, and dress like a cowboy, doing George Bush impressions infront of it, trying to demoralize and offend the sensibilities of the snow till it goes away? If all these hoaxsters "scientists" guzzling grant money up left and right know how to get rid of the snow, if it really is so simple that every little thing we do, every fart we let off makes a mile of ice on greenland break away, then they need to cut the crap and tell us straight up how to do it right..... how to make the snow go away. Its gone away several times these last few hundred thousand years, if they know how to do it, they should lead us in this? Should we fire bottle rockets at the snowclouds to intimidate them away? Just what the hell can I, as a individual, do? How can I end the snow? Truth is, short of lobbing nuke after nuke after nuke at the ice, there is jack diddly I can do to make even a dint into it. The stupid ice is growing way to fast now, I dont think we have much a chance against it. Most of the planets landmass is in cold areas. Potential arable land. Lots of resources. Places where all the wars take place, usually hot and desert. I say, screw the useless middle lands, we move everyone north. The idea of 60+ feet of water flooding the whinos and yuppies in the coastal cities is appealing as well. A world without snow, where peace and prosperity reigns. But its all lies. All this crap does is scare people into religious archetypal patterns of apocalypse, to give lost people a sense of unity and purpose through hysteria and psuedo science, and this hysyeria about global warming merely causes businesses to shut down, so people can become homeless and sleep in the precious snow. Screw the snows, screw the lies. Ill believe you, and will forgive you, once the evidence becomes self evidence. No more of this Schrodenger's Cat Global Warming. I got eyes, and I have memory, and common sense. Its freaken cold. How stupid do you think I am? Im not falling for this. If its so easy to make global warming happen, then just do it allready. Quit toying with us. We can build a beanie baby factory on mars, or something retarded like that, and terraform it from thd industrial output. Melt the icecaps. Apparently its that simple Which its not. Complete bull. Alchemy has a stronger foundation than these absurd, laughable beliefs. Has anyone here flown over the oceans? Did you not see the infinity of those oceans rise to mist and clouds, scrubbing the skies? Have any of you actually gone north to check the ice? I have, despite reports, the permafrost us still there. Call any graveyard in Anchorage, Alaska.... ask for a winter plot to be dug, see what they say.

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/eris Didnt know about the goddess, but look at that link..... I wasnt joking. How the hell did hedgehogs get bundled under a goddess name?
  5. How do the French feel about La Fayette, and do they comprehend how deeply indebted their survival during the 20th century was built upon (and very near thrown away) the goodwill La Fayette built up. I look at him, and Tocquerville.... do Europeans even take notice of such thinkers anymore? Did they ever?
  6. I really hate having to do this, but I'm blocking Gilius for one month. He is infinitely stalling on giving any data supporting his theory, even weak data. The only effort he gives to it is in being indirect in his alluding, and is a master of confusion. He only posts on this topic alone..... I've never seen evidence that he has posted on any other topic. I'm at wits end. Will give him a chance in the future, perhaps someone else will have a better approach. I gotta do this, or else I may be forced to..... to..... to do some bad things here in response to him. If anyone remembers the personality of the Scottish school grounds keeper on the Simpsons reacting to Barts hooliganism, you'll know where I am at right now. One month. ---- Legati: Gilius won't be a problem any more, unless he register a new account and somehow gets bumped from Servi to Plebes by Viggen. Good luck with that.
  7. I'm not presenting this for peer review (it's not my discovery), so if anyone else would like to gather up the technical information regarding the translations they are welcome to: this information is available online like everything else. If this is the case, why do you repeatedly bring this up? I only offer toleration to the extent you grow your idea into a theory, one that can be subjected to historical methods. If your not willing to try the history angle, then what on earth are you doing here? This is a history website? If you ever do produce something resembling data, please return and offer it up..... I (we) welcome a challenge to the current status quo..... but this is still a den of historians, under a kind of Republic of Science...... we all have ideas, but allow them to be inspected and criticised by others, and we try to have the humility to accept someone else's critique when they present good ideas and a competent critic. Your ideas are either purely accepted on a faith basis, which means they are not something easily examined using a fact based method that less biased third parties can research, or your now just intentionally withdrawing any attempt to present a recognizable thesis with supporting data for us to examine. You telling us to do the heavy lifting is absurd, we literally can't find the evidence. If you don't do something plausible soon to discredit this latter assumption of mine, that your being specifically nebulous and are intentionally making asinine assertions minus ANY supporting evidence, even the weakest kind, I'm going to petition the moderators to label you as a troll. We will not do the heavy lifting to build your theory, you have to do that. If you want to pursue a course of action that makes you into a historian by learning historic methods, say so now. If not bub-bye. I can tolerate a idiot trying to climb out of ignorance, but not one trying to pull everyone down with them. The first civilizes the feral, the latter banalize the capable.
  8. Statistics won't, look my post over, you'll see I never claimed it would prove the Flavian Hypothesis. However, it would induce a high degree of doubt, and need for future analysis. I'm open to the possibility, because I'm hitting this via method based on scientific norms, not faith nor abhorance. Remember Caldrail, your not the Christian here, I am. I have much more to 'loose'.... but History is History, he is making assertions, we should hear this out, and correct his methods where necessary. I'm not going to take history on Fideism alone. In theory, he might be able to impress us with good data.... might bring in a new era of historic study for all I know..... can't happen if he doesn't show us the goods. He has time..... lots of it. I doubt he can do it though, his claims are admittedly unreasonable and seemingly delusional.
  9. Your color display you made doesnt make the symmetrical paralell in the texts apparent or intuitive. How do you know they are in the 'same spots'.... did you do a wordcount between the texts, and find the mean for each start and finish? If you did, this would be statistical data.... I would like to see the numbers on the statistical spacing of the words. As in a actual count, of each word..... , how long the sections are (start to finish) , their word counts in between. If you did this, I will look over the data, and test its validity myself in parts. I want to see word counts and percentages match up pretty sharp though, in the same order. If you can do this, I will be impressed. If you can do it with a bar graph display as a overview to the data, even better. Im unable to do it on my own, given I dont know where these parts are.... and besides, its your argument, and your rebuttal. Take all the time you need, no rush. Just, you make a big yet conceivably provable claim (the parallel, not necessary Flavius).... I would like to see this statistical data and put it to the test.
  10. He's dead? He did good work. I had approved respect for what I've seen of him. My goal is to put out affordable translations (5-10 dollar range), but I honestly had no intention of storming the gates of academia..... figured there is going to be a trickle up effect..... you read the basic translation, see in to notes and commentary more authoritative or critical versions existed, many would go on to buy them.... due to the increased audience pool. I probably won't touch Leo for quite some time if he's dead though. Don't want to make any widow seemingly suffer loss of royalties. I'll buy this new version and will figure a way to mention it like, ten times somehow in the commentary for mine.... I can't find a address for the Washington state office.... I am hoping I didn't confuse it for DC.... I nearly snuck out on a weekend flight to go visit the supposed Washington state one..... I ended up heading out to the real Washington DC on my first leave returning from Iraq, heading to the rare books room of the library of congress.... they gave me the address of a local military/history reading room nearby, but it was closed for new years..... wouldn't that be funny.... I am starting to feel a bit stupid now.

I got it now..... Eris = "You Are a Depraved Hedgehog" I think I am starting to get this Synthetic vs Analectic Language divide.
  12. Just checked, cant find any current auctions. Best you can do is a persian rifle manual from the mid 19th century for 1500. Very random stuff bounces up.... Leo is floating out there somewhere.
  13. He isn't a bad translator. I recommend him. They sell once in a while very nice, illustrated manuscripts of this work for 1000 dollars. I nearly bought one in 2008. Looked like quality reproductions to me. If I recall, its a paraphrase from the Strategikon. I would prefer a future illustrated version (which I will make happen long down the road, I have my eye on translating a slightly later roman guerrilla manual after this philosophy text Im slowly doing is complete.) I dont live far from DC (9 hour drive), however, if I remember correctly, Dumbarton Oakes has a reading room in Washington State, you alluded to living not too far away from that state. I also know a former chair for dumbarton oakes, they might reduce the degree criteria if you dont have a high enough of one to get it..... they can be a bit snobbish..... hence why I just gave up and started learning ways to find the works other ways.

    Eris

I am stumped looking at this word on wiktionary, it defines it only as 'a hedgehog' but claims it is the second person singular future active indicative of sum, and gives these examples: You will be You will exist You will be ..... So do I have Eris, the existentialist hedgehog here? Sonic the Hedgehog's quiet, inward looking hedgehog? Or is this post rape, feminist self identification, rolled up in the fetal position, in her happy spot, quivering she can't have her sense of self taken away from her, yelling and screeching at anyone who approaches her to help her? Or a raped hedgehog who read far too much Heidegger and Sarte? I dunno, this definition doesn't match the examples. Someone tell me what the Romans were doing to these poor hedgehogs. I know they used to sacrifice puppies, what they do to these poor creatures?
  15. Design on your part, classified as Parallelmania by current historical diction. You see it as a consequence of your analysis we are left with only a Either Or. This can make sense from certain cognitive perspectives when subjective causality and expected parallels in logic are synchronized..... it's why I'm not calling you a nut case, because I know looking at the brain this is a sane and logical process..... to a point. After a while, your going to have to start processing and answering our assertions. This is something both Philo and Jesus were known for. Rabbi Daniel Boyarin noted Jesus was perhaps the best Polemist of his era, Marin R. Niehoff in her book Jewish Exegesis and Homeric Scholarship in Alexandria discusses not just Philo's Hermeunetics, but also a variety of other Jews active in this era. Parallels are expected by default. The Jews had a decided presence in Alexandria intellectually. How do you expect me to say it's either or when I've spent a week looking over what survives of Arius Didymus? How does he fit in? Wouldn't any number of the Stoic or Aristotelian Pagans living in Alexandria at this time of noted something odd happening between the government and this Jewish sect? The range of possibilities to reject your assertions are very high. Wouldn't be fair to US or YOU to slam you with them all at once. You got time, pace yourself.... just don't try to force us to answer a certain way. My eye falls on the Alexandrian Intelligencia and its Heumeunetic Methods more than just Philo's conservatism when looking critically at this. Hard to package it as fitting a either or.
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma It's unfortunately taught as a logical fallacy, which I don't believe in..... I'm more hardwired Neuro-Cognitive in my position on dialectics..... but 9 out of 10 historians are trained to 'detect' approved logical fallacies, and they would squeal with delight, as if they just disproved your theory by that alone. It's best to avoid them unless your debating someone more experienced, most historians are very conservative in their culture of debate and won't budge from the orthodoxy they were taught..... even though it was originally guys like me who made those rules in the first place to avoid the worst excesses of the dumbest debaters. When we see you doing this, we will explain why it's 'wrong'. You neither went to college like half the guys here nor are a experienced debater like me. It's easy to learn.
  17. Your assuming it's a Either - Or for us. Either Or binaries aren't apparent to us because we don't see it as requiring a narrowness of choice here. Your hardly the first to assume others must see a situation as Either Or. It presupposes we must accept one or another, when we might look at things otherwise very differently. Forcing us to accept this question is a slight of hand. I assume it's unintentional, but be aware of it in the future. Peer review shouldn't engineered so people reviewing it must accept it only two ways. It's our job to throw anything and everything against your theory (and we will in Time).
  18. Some of the court cases here stretch back to colonial times, the fines paid to the king.... I guess till 1776 it would still count as legal..... there is a book on the internet focusing on Colonial Virginia Court Records found in Western Pennslyvania. Its big, so I havent gone all through it.... was thinking of photographing the modern spots of any land rulings here..... Issue is, I am worried the early claims will substantially differ from what developed., and my.research will be used in a land claim situation. It would be deeply disturbing if say, descendants of Dirty Girty, the scumbag royalist who killed all the people here, was discovered to have a claim because some lord gave him a thousand acres just prior to the revolution., and he contested a neighbors claim in some royalist court.... That would be like giving land to the descendants of one of Hitlers favorites. I want to know..... but Im not certain I want to know. The settlement period here was perhaps the darkest decade of british history. Ugly, dark, and creepy from all angles.
  19. I have noticed there was been a decrease in dust bowls in the grain belt, compared to little under a.century ago. Longer growing seasons, coupled to increase in northern agriculture land (if it indeed is thawing, which I hope) more than compensates. Granarian culture in north africa lasted a long time after the sahara drifted north. I think we can do the same, be if colder or hotter. Our epecies evolved in the savannah, and survived a wide range of climate change. I have known forests and plains, deserts and tundras, and the tropics in my short life. People live in each.
  20. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/video/2013-12/14/c_132967541.htm Nice blizzard in the middle east...... clearly more proof of Global Warming. So damn warm there. Another one of these BBC/MSNBC record breaking hot winters. Or even better, they will finally admit its not getting warmer, but only because they got awareness out getting a couple of municipalities to recycle or something, and that did it. Stop recycling, I dont want to see the sahara freeze over.
  21. Eh... not worth it then. Was hoping for something written by a mastermind strategist, not by the japanese version of TRADOC for majors pretending to be part of a functional bureaucracy where everything works and makes sense. It never does, and if it is, I become suspicious as to why, its never the culture of group think.
  22. Which Japanese principles of war? Is it a authentic art of war, or some arm chair generals theory?
  23. I live across from Steubenville (Stupidville). Most broken China I find is along rivers, where 19th century dumps are. Things I find along it are butchered ox bones, giant oysters, weathered bricks, and bottles. I found whiskey and a bottle of oil for Franklin Stoves, both still full. Also found random stuff as well, but that is the norm. The shards.... not that important unless you find them exclusively in one spot. I would recommend the metal detector, seriously, some of the coins are worth money. Contact your local historian as well. If you live near stupidville, the fort has a decent historical society. Any bricks or shards with initials or logos can be dated and traced. Usually on the bottom of the plates, pale blue or green print.
  24. I usually don't have cause to critic a development of another users historical method. Don't misconceive my tolerance and willingness to critique and review your ideas with the acceptance of the underlining idea. There are hundreds of similar ideas, historically dubious but we'll constructed, at least well enough constructed for off hand consideration as a alternative possibility. As I see its unlikely any real proof will emerge, I have little hope for this theory to win out against other similar theories, much less overthrow the current polyglot synethsis commonly agreed upon without much controversy..... searching for the origins of Christianity has literally been done to death by some exceptional minds throughout history. Same with other major religions.
