  1. Can you explain what the nomenclator was neccesary for? Who's names was he wispering, when, and why?
  2. It looks quite odd...I honestly thought it was a pile of snails when I saw the thumbnail LOL. That's quite a bit of frankincense do you know who sent it? No matter, enjoy it
  3. I had no clue that any form of St. Johns Wort was useful for burns...I knew of lavendar and caledula...
  4. Well there are always exceptions, and Spartacus was one of them. However most who managed to get anywhere did so with some influence of some kind, high breeding (even if they didn't show it) or what have you.

  7. Ah, yes, the mother of Zues. I somehow forgot to include that... Feel free to add to this as you see fit everyone
  8. Cybele was also known as Magna Mater and was a fertility goddess from Phrygia. She was associated with the Earth and was worshipped on mountaintops. Her worship was "wild, emotional, bloody, orgiastic, and cathartic" and was led by eunuch priests (called Corybantes) who ritually castrated themselves and assumed women's identities. She was also known as a goddess of caverns and fortresses, and of wild beasts. In Greek Mythology Cybele was known as Rhea. She was renowned as the mother of the gods and her festival came first in Rome. Much more detailed info http://www.pantheon.org/articles/c/cybele.html
  9. I picked up a book at the library today, it's called A Pillar of Iron by Taylor Caldwell. It's a historical fiction novel about the life of Cicero (from his parent's life the day of his birth onward). An ambitious read (sixty-seven chapters!!! of really tiny print!!! 649 pages!!!) and at first I wasn't sure I could finish it, but I'm already just into chapter III and it's great...actually easy language to understand and I was laughing about something or other the whole time I was reading it (Caldwell writes with a sense of humor well befitting Cicero! ) If this book is as good as I am expecting I may just have to invest in my own copy I'll let you all know how it is. I may well write a review for it as well
  10. LMAO!!! I concur... Maim, torture, and kill. No trial (heck everyone knows they did it. Seems to me they were PROUD of it!)
  11. On the side is not bad, I've done it, it's really not bad. But in alot of the pictures you see them laying on their stomaches and it's weird.
  12. I think alot of it had to do with wealth and influence, not time period. Those guys got away with it because they were rich, influential people. If someone of a lower class had tried the same thing, they wouldn't have lasted ten seconds most likely.
  13. No, I mean Atlatl Here's World Atlatl Magazine a History Article
  14. Now see when I try to lie on my stomach I simply can't breath very well. Let alone eat lol.
  15. Thanks Viggen! I honestly did not know untill Pertinax PMed me asking for more info on something. I was like Wha?? lol

Water colors! They're awesome! I have such trouble with watercolors...
  18. This is very good! (I saw it this morning but had no time to comment)
  19. I finished the article and it's waiting to be published, go me! [edit]I just realized it IS published! thanks guys! It can be found on the UNRV homepage! I got another 83% in AP Chem I went to the Sportsman's Show in Harrisburg on Friday and let me tell you, it's worth a trip, but you really cannot see it in one day. It TOTALLY redefines the word "huge". (I got a pretty little piece of agate from the Yellowstone River there. It kind of looks like a lopsided arrowhead and it's all polished up. I turned it into a necklace ) I FINALLY turned my lab report in today, this isn't a good thing because it was due last Wednesday. I was a bit upset that I couldn't get it done before now but I'm glad it's done. Now I have an English project to contend with, which won't be too big a deal because it's art...but it's still annoying My art teacher loved my newest paintings, I can't wait to do more but I don't think they'll happen tonight. Oh yea, I'm building an Atlatl in shop (it's a device that can throw a six foot dart upwards of 100 yards...and sometimes at 85 mph) I'm really proud of it, I stained it black and painted red markings on it. It looks really cool. I'm going to do the same thing with the darts. (Most just left it boring wood colors and hardly finished lol). I'll post a picture when I get it done and bring it home
  20. I don't understand how anyone could eat laying on their stomach (I mean, other than potato chips which I've been known to do). Eating a big meal like that, you would think you would get sick or something.
  21. LOL wow that IS strange! I want to go to Britain lol.
  22. When are you going to publish my article Viggen? I sent it to PP should I send it to you as well?
